Community Engagement

Through the Building Healthy Communities Initiative and the Sterling Phoenix League, the Sterling community and collaborating organizations are working together to meet the challenges of Sterling.

This collaboration is of the utmost importance. To provide real change, a program like Building Healthy Communities must be a multifaceted and multi-level process, starting with a relationship with the people who live in the community.

The process is tailored to the opportunities and needs of this particular community.  In communities that hold  a different history, different set of conditions, and demographics, the outcomes and focus areas would vary in degrees or entirely based on those differences. Community Relationship Building involves a process of identifying the uniqueness of a community, meeting people where they are, and starting from there. See the chart below for an example of how the community members themselves are integral to the program's success.
