Kevin
Halter Appointed CEO for Bon Secours
Kentucky Health System
Marriottsville, Maryland February
12, 2009 – Bon Secours Health
System, Inc. (BSHSI) announced today
the appointment of Kevin Halter to
chief executive officer for Bon
Secours Kentucky Health System in
Ashland, Kentucky. Halter’s
promotion to this lead position is
effectively immediately and comes
after last summer’s promotion and
transfer of then CEO Mark Gordon to
Bon Secours Richmond Health System.
Sister Rose Marie Jasinski, senior
vice president for sponsorship for
BSHSI, stated, “During the past six
months as interim CEO, Kevin has
demonstrated strong leadership
capabilities and keen insights that
make him the right selection for the
position.”
Halter will assume permanent
responsibilities for day to day
operations lead for the Our Lady of
Bellefonte campus comprised of a
174-bed acute care hospital,
ambulatory surgery center, imaging
center, diabetes and wound care
center, and a 40-bed behavioral
health center. He will report
directly to Valinda Rutledge, BSHSI
senior vice president and market
leader for Kentucky and South
Carolina and will be a key player in
her senior management team. “Kevin
has done great things as the interim
CEO and I look forward to continuing
to work with him, said Rutledge. “
He is a strong leader and a
well-respected colleague.”
During Kevin’s four and one-half
years with BSKHS, he served also as
vice president of planning and
operations. He brings 24 years of
health care management experience in
several key areas including
operations, planning, claims
management, and management
engineering. Prior to coming to
BSKHS, Halter served most recently
as executive vice president/chief
operating officer for Bluefield
Regional Medical Center in
Bluefield, West Virginia.
Halter earned a master of health
administration from Xavier
University in 1987 and a bachelor of
arts degree in psychology from
Bowling Green State University. He
served on several state and local
boards and community organizations
and currently is an active board
member in the Kentucky Health
Association Certificate of Need
Committee as well as the PTCA
Committee, Chamber of Commerce, and
the Tri State Quality Health
Network.
