Schervier Receives Grant to Reduce
Incidence of
Pressure Ulcers
Marriottsville, Maryland, November
20, 2008 – Schervier Nursing Care
Center, part of Bon Secours New York
Health System, is one of just 37
long-term care providers in New York
State that will share in $1.5
million in Department of Health
grants to improve the quality of the
nursing home experience. It was
selected from 111 applications
submitted to the state.
One of the most daunting challenges
facing long-term care professionals
today is the prevention and
treatment of pressure ulcers, the
visible evidence of pathologic
changes in the blood supply to the
skin. Schervier’s proposal, called
“Be A Sore Loser,” is a
collaboration among the Departments
of Nursing, Medicine, Research and
Quality Management and supports the
treatment and reduction of pressure
ulcer cases.
