Bon Secours Cottage Health Services Promotes
Collins to New CEO
Marriottsville,
MD, July 15, 2005 - Following an in-depth national search, Bon Secours
Health System, Inc. (BSHSI), Henry Ford Health System, and the Bon
Secours Cottage Health Services Board of Trustees announced today that
interim Chief Executive Officer Jeff Collins has been promoted to lead
the Grosse Pointe, Michigan health system as its new chief executive.
Collins has served as interim CEO since February 2005 and since 2002 had
been the system’s chief operating officer, with responsibility for its
two acute care campuses as well as its nursing care center, assisted
living facility and home care services.
“Jeff has demonstrated outstanding leadership as interim CEO,” said Bon
Secours Cottage Health Services Board of Trustees Chair Hadley Mack
French. “He has clearly shown his commitment to delivering high quality
care, in part through building strong relationships with physicians,
leading the senior management team and hospital staff on key
initiatives, and remaining an active community leader. Jeff
distinguished himself as a talented and experienced leader who will be a
catalyst for our growth in serving the health care needs of this area.”
“Collins is an accomplished health system executive with two decades of
hospital leadership experience. Prior to joining Bon Secours Cottage
Health Services in 2002, he was chief executive officer of Sun Coast
Hospital Inc., in Largo, Fla., for nearly a decade. He also served as
chief operating officer of Sun Coast Hospital and held administration
positions at other health systems in Crystal River, Fla., and Lakewood,
Cal. Collins holds a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from
California State University, Long Beach. He earned a bachelor’s degree
in Public Administration from Saint Cloud State University in Saint
Cloud, Minn.

Bon Secours Cottage Health Services was created in 1998 as a joint
venture of Bon Secours Health System and Henry Ford Health System.
Facilities and services include two eastside community hospitals, Bon
Secours Hospital and Cottage Hospital, two 24-hour emergency centers, a
network of primary care outpatient sites, diagnostic centers and
pharmacies, home care services and durable medical equipment companies.
Outpatient specialty services range from athletic medicine and
rehabilitation to psychiatry. Community programs encompass health
education, health screenings, and healthy lifestyle offerings.
