Bon Secours Cottage Health Services Promotes Collins to New CEO

Chief Executive Officer Jeff Collins Marriottsville, MD, July 15, 2005 - Following an in-depth national search, Bon Secours Health System, Inc. (BSHSI), Henry Ford Health System, and the Bon Secours Cottage Health Services Board of Trustees announced today that interim Chief Executive Officer Jeff Collins has been promoted to lead the Grosse Pointe, Michigan health system as its new chief executive.

Collins has served as interim CEO since February 2005 and since 2002 had been the system’s chief operating officer, with responsibility for its two acute care campuses as well as its nursing care center, assisted living facility and home care services.

“Jeff has demonstrated outstanding leadership as interim CEO,” said Bon Secours Cottage Health Services Board of Trustees Chair Hadley Mack French. “He has clearly shown his commitment to delivering high quality care, in part through building strong relationships with physicians, leading the senior management team and hospital staff on key initiatives, and remaining an active community leader. Jeff distinguished himself as a talented and experienced leader who will be a catalyst for our growth in serving the health care needs of this area.”

“Collins is an accomplished health system executive with two decades of hospital leadership experience. Prior to joining Bon Secours Cottage Health Services in 2002, he was chief executive officer of Sun Coast Hospital Inc., in Largo, Fla., for nearly a decade. He also served as chief operating officer of Sun Coast Hospital and held administration positions at other health systems in Crystal River, Fla., and Lakewood, Cal. Collins holds a master’s degree in Health Care Administration from California State University, Long Beach. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from Saint Cloud State University in Saint Cloud, Minn.

“I’m excited about the challenges ahead,” Collins said. “This is a strong community with many health care needs. By working closely with our hospital staff, the medical community and the greater community we’ll continue to expand our service lines and enhance the high quality, compassionate care that Bon Secours Cottage is so well known for. It’s a privilege to be selected to help strengthen our health care mission and extending our outreach throughout the eastside communities.”

Bon Secours Cottage Health Services was created in 1998 as a joint venture of Bon Secours Health System and Henry Ford Health System. Facilities and services include two eastside community hospitals, Bon Secours Hospital and Cottage Hospital, two 24-hour emergency centers, a network of primary care outpatient sites, diagnostic centers and pharmacies, home care services and durable medical equipment companies. Outpatient specialty services range from athletic medicine and rehabilitation to psychiatry. Community programs encompass health education, health screenings, and healthy lifestyle offerings.
